The organization has expanded its reach beyond Chennai to Kavarapettai, Thiruvallur District and Katpadi, Vellore District, in response to the pressing need for child rights protection. From 1999 to 2023, it operated Childline 1098 in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, addressing issues such as child marriage, child labor, missing, runaways, neglected and abused children and etc. Throughout the years, the organization has rescued thousands of children and rehabilitated them based on their needs by the program.
Additionally, since 2000, it has engaged with three communities through the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS).
In 2017, DBAI launched a program focused on the protection of migrant youth, which has become a flagship initiative for Don Bosco Institution at the national level. On the same year 2017 to 2022, DBAI has worked with 12 coastal communities of Chennai, focussing the development of children, youth and women.
DBAI has also played a crucial role in rehabilitating communities affected by major natural disasters, including 2004 tsunami, 2015 floods, COVID-19 pandemic and 2023 floods.
